FIVE DEADLY RED DOUBLE ACTS

-

ERIC CANTONA & MARK HUGHES

Cantona’s guile and the belligerence of Hughes saw the pair form a deadly partnership in United’s Double-winning 1993-94 season. Cantona scored 25 and Hughes 22.

ANDY COLE & DWIGHT YORKE

The pair (right) scored 53 goals between them in the 1998-99 Treble-winning season. United lost only one of the 36 games the duo started. Their heroics continued the next season, with 46 goals.

TEDDY SHERINGHAM & OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER

Sheringham and Solskjaer will be remembered for coming off the bench to win the 1999 Champions League against Bayern Munich and seal the Treble.

WAYNE ROONEY & CRISTIANO RONALDO

Rooney and Ronaldo ripped teams apart with quick counterattacks. Ronaldo plundered 42 goals in the 2007-08 season and Rooney contributed to more than half.

WAYNE ROONEY & ROBIN VAN PERSIE

The deadly duo combined to score 38 goals in the 2012-13 season, as the Reds won the league title for the 20th time. They sealed it with a Van Persie hat-trick, in a 3-0 win over Aston Villa.
