Warm before the storm

-

SUN worshippers make the most of a blistering day on Weymouth beach yesterday as Hurricane Gert tears towards us from the US.

The tropical storm is flying across the Atlantic at 85mph and will fizzle out before reaching the UK. But its energy will be picked up by a low-pressure system on its way here – hitting the coast on Sunday.

Scotland and the north-west of England and Wales will suffer 40mm of rain, while the south of England basks in sunshine.

The Met Office’s Nicky Maxey said: “The further north you are in the country, you’re going to see some more wet weather.”
