KLOPP’S SO SURE HE’LL KEEP KOP’S TOP STARS

- BY DAVID MADDOCK

JURGEN KLOPP claims being a part of Liverpool’s future should satisfy the ambitions of any player.

Barcelona continue to circle Anfield with their sights on Philippe Coutinho, but Klopp (below) believes his Liverpool team is on the verge of something spectacular.

The Reds’ boss said: “For each player Liverpool is a very good club, a very good team at the moment.

“We have a good age range in the squad. We have very young boys and experience – it’s a good mix and we are on our way.

“I think we got rid of the expectations of 20 years ago and created our own expectations for all the people.

“They expect a lot from us after what we did last season. I am fine with the situation and am very positive about the project of Liverpool.

“I don’t see a lot of reasons for a player to leave the club.”

It was reported in Spain that a deal to take the Brazilian to the Nou Camp is almost done, after Barca’s general manager Pep Segura reacted to their Super Cup defeat against Real Madrid by claiming “we are close”.

Klopp couldn’t hide his contempt for Segura, when he said: “I don’t know why other people are saying what they are saying; I don’t even know them – especially this guy, I’ve never even met him.”

Coutinho is still unavailable for the Reds with the manager admitting he doesn’t know when the playmaker will return from a back injury. But Klopp did reveal that Daniel Sturridge will be part of the squad for tomorrow’s visit of Crystal Palace.
