City to up Evans bid

-

FROM BACK PAGE wanted by Inter Milan. Evans will not be a firstchoice at City, but can look forward to a significant increase on his £75,000-aweek wages as well as the chance to play in the Champions League and competing for the Premier League title.

He is said to have thought hard about the move, given his former alliance with United and the fact he is an automatic pick at West Brom.

Guardiola wants another centre-back to provide cover for skipper Vincent Kompany, Nicolas Otamendi and John Stones – and is keen to play three at the back. There are doubts over Kompany’s ability to remain fit, given his persistent injury problems in recent seasons.

West Brom are understood to have rejected two bids from Leicester for Evans this summer before dismissing City’s opening gambit.

The Baggies have made enquiries about Tottenham centre-half Kevin Wimmer.
