SPURS LAND £42M SANCHEZ AND POCH WANTS THREE MORE

- BY ADRIAN KAJUMBA

TOTTENHAM wrapped up a club-record £42million deal for Davinson Sanchez, to finally land their first summer signing. And boss Mauricio Pochettino wants to bring in at least three more new faces before the window closes. Colombian central defender Sanchez joined on a six-year deal from Ajax for an initial £28m, plus add-ons. Sanchez, 21, who will have his medical in the next few days, said: “I am very excited to be signing for such a famous club. “I am looking forward to working with Mauricio Pochettino and the players, and meeting everyone there.”

Spurs are set for a flurry of late transfer activity. They want Lazio’s unsettled goalscoring winger Keita Balde, 22, and received a boost when Juventus withdrew from the race to sign him.

Pochettino said: “I want four players (including Sanchez), if possible, but it is not easy.” The Spurs boss and Antonio Conte have buried the hatchet before their Wembley showdown.

The Chelsea boss has spoken to the Argentine to explain his “pop” at Spurs during pre-season, in which he appeared to question their ambition.

Pochettino said: “He did not apologise, he just tried to explain things to me. I understood it when he explained to me. “I don’t believe he wanted to be

disrespectful.”
