FAX HOPING TO RAISE THE ROOF

-

RICHARD MARSHALL will take his squad of labourers, engineers and roofers to Warrington today hoping to cause the biggest upset of the Qualifiers.

The Wolves – Super League Grand Finalists last season – are expected to breeze through the eight-team competition and have already accounted for topflight Widnes and Catalans.

Part-time Fax are 50-1 outsiders with some bookmakers for this match, having already defied the odds just to make the Championship top four.

But Marshall – who worked on the Wolves backroom staff – believes his side will not be daunted by the challenge. He said: “They are a world-class side with fantastic individuals. But we have fantastic players as well and punched above our weight in the Championship. “We’ve raised our game against the bigger teams this year and I envisage us doing the same again. While they will have been on their team run yesterday our lads have been grafting – Ben Heaton (circle, right) is supposed to be on a roof on Saturday, but has taken the day off.

“Shane Grady (left) is an engineer working on the bridge between Widnes and Warrington and we have players working in finance and as labourers.

“But we want to go there and have a good crack at it.”
