Moss’ motor makes £17m

-

AN Aston Martin raced by Sir Stirling Moss has become the most expensive British car after selling at auction for £17.5million.

The 1956 DBR1 was built for Le Mans racing and dubbed the “most important” Aston ever produced. Just five were built from 1956 to 1958.

Two collectors battled over it for seven minutes at RM Sotheby’s Monterey sale in California. It is only topped in value by five Ferraris and one Mercedes.
