Corbyn: Give MPs say on Afghan war

JEREMY Corbyn insists Parliament must have a say before more troops are sent to Afghanista­n.

The Commons should not be bypassed if ministers plan an escalation in Britain’s military presence in the country, he says.

The Labour leader’s comments come after Donald Trump, in a major U-turn, announced a troop surge to defeat a resurgent Taliban and called on other Nato countries to back the US effort.

A spokesman for Mr Corbyn said: “The conduct of Britain’s military support in Afghanista­n should always be accountabl­e to Parliament.”

A decision on whether Labour would push for a vote would depend on the “manner of the deployment”. Mr
