THE highlight of this year’s Ebor Festival was undoubtedly Ulysses’s win in the Juddmonte. That’s chiefly because I had my biggest bet of the meeting on him.

Enable’s five-length romp in the Yorkshire Oaks was equally impressive, though at 1-4 nobody got rich.

Ulysses has earned the right to be called the best colt in Europe, and Enable, who beat Ulysses in the King George at Ascot, is undoubtedly the best filly.

She has four consecutive Group One victories to her name and will tempt many at around even money to add the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe to her resume on October 1. I am already on. There do not appear any chinks in her armour after she led from start to finish at York.

Frankie Dettori, who is seeking his fifth Arc win, said that if anyone had tried to keep pace with Enable, “they’d have broken their lungs.”
