Hunt rap No2 for Prof over privatisation
JEREMY Hunt has hit back a second time in a bitter row with Stephen Hawking over NHS privatisation.
Last week the Health Secretary accused the professor of “pernicious falsehood” for saying the way was being paved for US-style health insurance.
But after the physicist, 75, said he was misquoted, Mr Hunt claimed he was “once again wrong”.
Record spending, plus record totals of doctors and nurses, showed Tory commitment to a publicly funded NHS, he said.
Mr Hunt added: “There has been a dramatic drop in private medical insurance since 2009.”
The claim new “accountable care” bodies were a step towards privatisation was incorrect, he said.
