No A-listers for Bear... but Ryan’s great on the bee team
You may recall Ryan Thomas being fairly upbeat about his future career plans when he quit Coronation Street in May, 2016.
“Going to Hollywood is a dream, so I’m going to see what happens.”
Fast forward 15 months, and last night Ryan was screaming in the jungle on Celebrity Island With Bear Grylls after a foraging mission went wrong.
Now, I’m not saying Ryan’s dream is over. But I’m guessing being attacked by a swarm of angry bees was the first time he’d had any kind of buzz around him since leaving Weatherfield. He’s in good company, though. Grylls has not exactly attracted a stellar line-up for his latest glorified Boy Scouts’ trip.
It includes: The one from Pussycat Dolls who no one really remembers. A doctor from This Morning’s GP roster. A pair of comedians who are probably still at the “updates own Wikipedia page” stage of fame.
One half of Rizzle Kicks (And I’m guessing Rizzle, but it could just as easily be Kicks). Plus, a couple of retired Olympians. (No, not Mo or Usain.)
If you were being kind, you’d say it looks like the second reserves list for I’m A Celebrity. If you were being honest, you’d say the sixth.
Not that they haven’t already provided some drama. On top of the bee attack, Ryan was also pulled out of the ocean screaming in agony.
Was it a shark bite? A jellyfish sting? A deadly stingray jab?
Er, no. Ryan had merely gone down with a touch of cramp. However, his depiction of agony was so incredibly convincing the part of Random Dude Who Got Bit Hard in Sharknado 6 is already in the bag for sure.
