Mitrovic in ‘elbow’ ban

- BY SIMON BIRD

ALEKSANDAR MITROVIC has been banned for three games.

The Newcastle striker has accepted a violent conduct charge after elbowing West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini off the ball.

The Serb will miss games against Swansea, Stoke and Brighton – and has further damaged his reputation with boss Rafa Benitez.

Mitrovic scored two in two games last week, but was caught on camera striking Lanzini, which the match officials missed.

Mitrovic spoke after the 3-0 win against the Hammers and moaned that he was not “trusted”.

He claimed to have had transfer offers to each of Europe’s top five divisions.

But he said Newcastle officials had told him he had to stay as Benitez has struggled to sign a big-money replacement.

Mitrovic, on international duty now, said: “I have unfinished business in the Premier League. I have a mission to show people in England – and I will .”
