James Doohan
After 28 years playing Scottie in Star Trek, actor James had a very fitting request when he died in 2005. “Beam me up,” the 85-year-old said in his will. James wanted his ashes shot into space via a rocket, so an urn carrying some of his remains was blasted into orbit in 2012 aboard Falcon 9. Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry’s remains were also taken into space – by a Spanish satellite in 1997. His wife joined him after she died 10 years later.
