Ox admits Kop move is a shock
ALEX OXLADECHAMBERLAIN knows fans are surprised by his decision to quit Arsenal to join Liverpool.
He turned down more money at Arsenal – as well as snubbing a bigger offer from Chelsea – to sign for Jurgen Klopp.
The England midfielder completed his transfer for an initial £35million with £5m in add-ons and knows some supporters will find the move strange.
But Oxlade-Chamberlain is adamant he has made the correct decision after being part of the Arsenal side hammered 4-0 by Liverpool on Sunday.
“After six years, three FA Cup wins and countless incredible memories, the time has come for me to move on from Arsenal,” he said on social media in which he thanked Arsene Wenger and the Gunners.
“I know my choice might come as a surprise to many and the decision to leave was tough after being a part of the club for so many years. But I feel that this move is right for the next stage in my ongoing development.”
Oxlade-Chamberlain, 24, who has signed a five-year deal worth £120,000 a week at Anfield, quit the Emirates because he was unhappy being played at wing-back.
