Cheat head who blamed staff banned

- BY ALEX SHIPMAN

A PRIMARY school head who changed pupils’ exam papers then blamed his colleagues has been given a life ban from teaching.

Paul Prescott took the 11-year-olds’ maths papers to his office and had a 35-minute “window of opportunity” to alter them, a disciplinary panel heard.

But he said his door was open all the time. He claimed the class teacher or the deputy head could have done it.

The National College for Teaching and Leadership panel ruled the head of Brookdale Primary, Greasby, Wirral, Merseyside, had cheated.

It blasted his dishonesty and lack of remorse.

The ban with no chance of review was needed “to maintain public confidence in the profession”.
