I’m all for the university of life

-

Studying for a degree apparently reduces the risk of heart disease. Hmmmm.

As I nearly experienced a heart attack on learning of Someone Very Close To Me’s exam results over the summer, I’m slightly perplexed by this encouragingfor-some finding. Let’s just say Someone VCTM won’t be going to university, so am I to expect a call saying he’s been rushed to A&E? Also, I reckon being saddled with at least 27 grand worth of student loan debt might be a tad detrimental to one’s ticker too. There’s room – a real need, even – in society for people who can’t/won’t study for exams but who get on and do, because they have to. Alan Sugar, anyone? Richard Branson? Simon Cowell? Robbie Williams? Cheryl? Joey Essex? Oh, and Einstein.

I think they’d all agree that not going to university can be very good for your heart. As well as your bank account.

P.S. I can definitely confirm that transfer deadline day can be detrimental to heart health if you’re a Chelsea fan.
