It’s the final episode in the series of this heart-warming sobfest. And for one of this week’s participan­ts, his search is a race against the clock as he worries he may have left things too late. Derek Berg is 73, and has known for more than 50 years that he had a long lost brother.

His mother had confessed she had an affair with an Allied soldier during the war, but had the baby was given up for adoption and her husband ordered her to never speak of him again. Derek had promised his mother he would never try to find his brother while his father was still alive. Then just days after his dad died in 2014 he threw everything into searching for him, but kept hitting brick walls.

The other story is Ann Smith who always knew she was adopted because of how different she looked from her own family.

It’s devastatin­g news, when the team learn Ann’s birth mother died just three months ago.

But there’s good news too – she has SIX half siblings.
