Corrie gets sixy!
Fans to get another episode of ITV soap every Wednesday
CORONATION Street bosses have revealed the new sixth episode of the week will go out on Wednesdays.
The first extra show will air on September 20 at 8.30pm – meaning fans get double helpings on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays every week. And the new pattern will kick off in spectacular style with the double wedding of Aidan Connor to Eva Price and Johnny Connor to Jenny Bradley. It begins with Aidan – Shayne Ward – confessing his affair with Maria to shocked fiancee Eva on the big day. But just when it looks like she has decided to go ahead with the marriage, jilted Maria, played by Samia Ghadie, decides to gatecrash the nuptials. Insiders say it will be “one of the most sensational stunt-filled weddings the cobbles have ever seen”. Things also do not go to plan for Jenny and Aidan’s dad Johnny as Rita Sullivan’s health takes a turn for the worse. Jenny refuses to leave her foster mum’s hospital bedside, so it looks like neither of the Connors will get hitched.
Executive producer Kieron Roberts said: “A double Wednesday treat is launching in two weeks. The week to kick this off is unmissable – an epic week of heartstopping drama, heartbreaking emotion and heart-warming comedy.” It has been just over a year since ITV announced plans for Corrie to join Emmerdale with six episodes a week. The actors have been preparing with a new rota that began eight weeks ago. Catherine Tyldesley, who plays Eva, said: “Everything has been structured in a way that nobody is overloaded and everything is quite evenly spread. As a viewer, I’m excited to watch another episode.” Corrie went out twice a week when it first appeared on screens in December 1960.
