WAKE UP, CHERRIES!

- BY JOHN CROSS

ASMIR BEGOVIC warned Bournemouth have been given a major “wake-up call” after their disastrous start.

The Cherries have lost all four of their games, despite an ambitious summer spending spree, which saw them bring in Begovic, Jermain Defoe and Nathan Ake.

But Eddie Howe’s men were woeful at Arsenal and, if not for Begovic’s heroics, could have lost by six or seven. They now face a crunch showdown with Brighton on Friday, and Begovic (below) admitted they must respond. The keeper said: “It was very disappointing. We know it’s not good enough and we were not good enough. “We all expected more, to be honest. We’ve brought some new players in, it can take some time to settle in, but this has been a wake-up call for everyone. “We know we’ve got to turn it round quickly. It’s a huge game on Friday night now.”
