Ocean killers close beach
A POPULAR beach was shut yesterday after a huge number of Portuguese man o’ war were washed up.
The jellyfish-like critters, with long purple tentacles, have a powerful sting that can prove fatal.
They were reported washed up at Perranporth as well as several other Cornish beaches. The RNLI reopened it later.
Dr Peter Richardson, of the Marine Conservation Society, said: “This is the second consecutive year they have turned up in numbers.”
