EASYJET BID FOR PLANES

EasyJet has joined ri­vals in bid­ding to buy pieces of bank­rupt ri­val Air Berlin. The Lu­ton-based bud­get air­line con­firmed it had “sub­mit­ted a pro­posal”, with re­ports that it is in­ter­ested in up to 40 Air Berlin planes. Lufthansa, Ger­many’s big­gest air­line, was among others to put in bids ahead of the dead­line yes­ter­day. Air Berlin filed for bank­ruptcy last month af­ter ma­jor share­holder Ethiad Air­ways pulled fund­ing fol­low­ing years of losses.
