‘RICH GERS CASHING US UP QUICK’

-

BRENDAN RODGERS has taunted Rangers ahead of the first Old Firm derby of the season by pointing out they have splashed more cash than Celtic.

The two bitter enemies meet at Ibrox on Saturday with the Hoops five points clear of their Glasgow rivals, who are third.

And Rodgers (above), who saw his side thump Ross County 4-0 on Saturday, said: “I’ve seen a little bit of Rangers.

“Pedro Caixinha obviously came in during the season and was able to assess and look at different methods in which they can try to work and play.

“They have clearly spent money in the summer. They spent more money than us – and we are a Champions League club.

“So that tells you their idea is to win the league. It’s not to finish third. Not second above Aberdeen. It’s to win the league.

“They have come into the season with that mentality. They have signed some good players.”

Rangers have a doubt over captain Lee Wallace with a groin strain picked up in the 2-2 draw with Partick on Friday.

Boss Caixinha is trying to forget the hype and said: “I cannot stop the noise but I can avoid it getting on my mind.”
