Fancy a nice, cool glass of fizzy, pink... milk?
TRIAL Arla will market drink FIZZY milk is heading for our supermarkets in an attempt to make dairy cool again.
Producers hope to entice back teenagers with the bubbly, pink, fruit-and-milk drink after UK milk sales fell £240million from 2014 to 2016.
Developer Anne Evers Nikolajsen says it is a “type of whey with no fat”. She added: “It won’t curdle when mixed with the fruit juice that gives it its pink colour. It is then carbonated. You could use it in a cocktail in the evening.”
It will be trialled in the UK by co-operative Arla following concerns consumers are moving away from cows’ milk towards non-dairy milks such as almond and coconut.
Creators Matt Walker, of Harrogate, North Yorks, and German Sven Thormahlen want to change perceptions. Matt said: “The insight we’ve found is that milk is not that cool.”
