Hope fading for McCain in cancer battle
VETERAN US senator and Donald Trump opponent John McCain has revealed his fight with brain cancer has a “poor prognosis”.
Mr McCain, who was a POW during America’s war with Vietnam, received a standing ovation at the US Senate when he went to vote against Mr Trump’s healthcare bill – just 11 days after brain surgery.
The 81-year-old said: “Now we’re going to do what we can. And at the same time, celebrate with gratitude a life well-lived.”
Of Mr Trump, the former Navy pilot added: “We are very different people.
“He is in the business of making money…I was raised in the belief that duty, honour, country is the lodestar for the behaviour that we have to exhibit every single day.”
