BEHAVE OR GO TO JAIL

- FROM JOHN CROSS

ENGLISH fans have been warned they will face a “long stay” in prison if there is hooliganism in Moscow this week.

Liverpool take on Spartak Moscow tonight and Manchester United face CSKA tomorrow with around 2,000 fans set to travel to the Russian capital.

The head of the Russian Football Union’s security committee, Vladimir Markin, warned them to behave or face an extended stay behind bars. Markin said: ”I warn those who plan to come here to commit hooliganism that they will face a suitable punishment, possibly in the form of a long stay in Russia.

“And it will be in conditions our guests won’t like.”

The Russians have warned fans not to travel without match tickets.

They have promised strict crowd searches and tightened security, and have advised fans not to congregate in large numbers.
