Nintendo Classic Mini: SNES

£79

- With JEFF PARSONS

Ask anyone born between 1975 and 1990 about gaming and chances are they’ve got fond memories of Super Mario Kart or Street Fighter II on Nintendo’s original SNES.

Now, over 25 years later, Nintendo has hit on the idea of shrinking its old hardware down, packaging it with an emulated “greatest hits” package, and putting it into the hands of grown-up gamers and kids who have only ever known PlayStation and Xbox.

For £79, the Classic Mini SNES gives you Super Mario World, Donkey Kong Country, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and 18 other games that’ll plug straight into your 2017 TV’s HDMI port.

The only real problem might be getting hold of one. Demand is sky-high and online stores are already warning about stock shortages. Expect to see vastly over-inflated prices appearing on auction sites as we get closer to Christmas.
