“The manager has the ability and I hope that you can give me one of the greatest memories of my life.” England boss Gareth Southgate has yet to confirm his permanent captain, but it is between Tottenham’s Harry Kane and Jordan Henderson of Liverpool.

Kane (above) shook hands with Sir Bobby, who had a training pitch at St George’s named in his honour yesterday.

Southgate said: “It’s a privilege to meet one of our greatest-ever players, who was so important in us winning the World Cup.”
