KEANE’S BITE AT TOFFEES

- BY JAMES NURSEY

TOM LAWRENCE hopes to take the free-kicks for Wales after main-man Gareth Bale was ruled out.

Lawrence scored 11 goals and made 11 assists while out on loan from Leicester at Championship Ipswich last season before his £5million permanent move to Derby.

The attacking midfielder started both Wales’ last two World Cup qualifiers against Austria and Moldova.

He may now take the set-pieces after superstar Bale was ruled out of Wales’ final two qualifiers against Georgia and the Republic of Ireland with a calf injury.

Lawrence (right) said: “I wouldn’t mind taking a few now he has cleared out of the way. If the manager calls upon me I will be ready.

“I scored a free-kick for Ipswich last season. When you score a few you feel like every shot you take is going to go in the top corner. I had that feeling last season and hopefully I can get back to that.

“My last couple of games at Derby I have felt really confident and the performances have been good without quite getting the goals.”
