BBC2, 8pm Two families go head to head tonight for the last place in the semis, judged by cookery teacher Rosemary Shrager and Michelinstarred chef Georgio Locatelli.

Both have the air of teachers, friendly if you try hard, while Zoe Ball and Nadiya Hussain are the giggling girls in the back of class.

The theme is Friday night takeaway and both families decide to cook a curry. The Boyes, from Liverpool – partners David and Sam and David’s teenage daughter Ellie – work to impress the judges with their chicken curry with Boyes’ Bhajis.

But the Rignalls, from Buckinghamshire, have Indian heritage on their side. And mum and daughter Jassi and Usha, with cousin Sunita, are hoping their classic chicken tikka masala will win the day. Either way, the whole thing is enough to have you reaching for a takeaway menu.
