Rare spider is real diamond

-

A SPIDER thought to have been extinct for 48 years has been found in a park.

National Trust volunteers came across the diamond spider, named due to the markings on its back, at Clumber Park in Worksop, Notts.

The arachnid, around half an inch long, has been recorded in the UK only three times previously.

Matt Shardlow, of conservation charity Buglife, said: “We’re delighted this spider has been re-found, we’d almost given up hope.”
