Cahill still in running

-

EVERGREEN Tim Cahill headed two goals to beat Syria and keep Australia’s World Cup dream alive.

Now the Socceroos, who needed extra time, must see off either Panama or Honduras to book their place in Russia.

Former Everton star Cahill, 38 in December, said: “This is my passion. I will run to the end for our manager Ange Postecoglou and these players.

“Sometimes you’ve got to write your own script.

“I’m proud of everything we have done together and how we can help kids watching to follow their dreams.“

Syria went ahead through Omar Al Somah in Sydney only to be reduced to 10 men at the start of extra time.

But they nearly stole it on away goals right at the death when Al Somah’s free-kick hit the post.
