Please stop sizing us up

As a UK size 6, can I just say I’m sick of people saying: “You’re SO skinny”, or “You’re TOO thin” or “How do you stay SO tiny?” all while suspiciously looking me up and down, and making me feel as if I have some furtive reason for being the size I am.

Thin-shaming is every bit as insulting as fat-shaming, as the Duchess of Cambridge, who was trolled by idiots claiming her baby bump is too small, will testify. Then there were the headlines proclaiming Nigella, who’s recently lost weight, was ‘Too Thin’ and friends were ‘worried’ for her. What if Nigella said: ‘You size 16 and overs are too bloody fat”? Imagine the outcry.

This is Mandy Wilkins. She died of Alzheimer’s aged just 43. Her children, Aaron, 21, and twins Ellis and Georgia, 18, cared for her.

Aaron said: “We pulled together, did it for Mum. It became a 24-hour job.” I cannot find the words to express how much I admire them.
