RONALD KOEMAN praised Wayne Rooney for showing “world-class” composure to score a last-gasp penalty which may have saved the Everton manager’s job.

CHRIS HUGHTON admitted drawing with Everton felt like a defeat after Brighton conceded a last-gasp goal.

But he refused to publicly blame his captain Bruno for a reckless elbow which gifted Everton their penalty, converted by Wayne Rooney.

Brighton boss Hughton said: “So fresh after the game it feels more like a defeat than a draw.

“At this moment, that’s how it feels. Sometimes when you watch the game again and you analyse it, sometimes that changes.

“But at the moment it feels more like a loss. I have no problems with the penalty. Probably credit to Bruno, he had a lot of aerial duels in the game. He has attempted to impede their player, but because there’s been a little bit of pushing before the referee was right on top of it. But I have no problems.

“It’s a tight group and we also have to remember the sterling work Bruno has done for us and it’s something he hasn’t got away with today.”

Hughton praised winger Anthony Knockaert after his first Premier League goal for the Seagulls.

He added: “For us it’s more about his contribution.

“We know what Anthony can give us and that he’s against better full-backs and better teams. But I’m really pleased for him.”
