Why Prue sometimes enjoys a soggy bottom

-

GANG OF FLOUR Paul, Sandi, Noel and Prue JUDGE Prue Leith has admitted she sometimes likes a soggy bottom.

Prue, 77, said: “I like the taste of almond cake before it’s really too set.

“On quiche, I like the bottom to meld a little bit.” She said the pastry should be cooked underneath, “but the bit that touches the custard should be a little soggy”.

Sandi Toksvig, 59, said hosting the series had got her back into the kitchen. She said: “I’ve started baking again. I made a cheesecake the other day. I could have bought one, but honestly it’s just as quick to make one but it’s much nicer and much tastier.”

Sandi and sidekick Noel Fielding, 44, even lent a hand to Paul Hollywood, 51, on his new show.

Paul said: “I’m filming a new series for C4, A Baker’s Life, and we actually made a cake together, and Noel and Sandi iced it with meringue and then blow-torched it. It looked lovely.”

The show has won Noel new fans. He said: “I saw Liam Gallagher and he said,‘Oh mate, you’re doing that programme’. I said, ‘Yeah’. He said, ‘Nice one’. I thought, ‘Wow. I was not expecting that’.”
