Hard labour
Ullman’s hours in make-up to play Jez
FOLLOWING her successful election special, Tracey Ullman is back this week with a new series.
And creating comedy for the many, not the few, she has a new impression of Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn. But it takes her a fair time in make-up to be ready to play Jezza in Tracey Breaks the News. So there is quite a lot of hard labour involved – geddit?
She told us: “It took around three hours, start to finish. Once we’ve got the hang of it, though, it’ll speed up a bit – much like the man himself. Corbyn looks like he’s got his morning routine down to a few seconds!” She will also showcase her takes on German Chancellor Angela Merkel and SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon. She adds: “It’s wonderful there is so much comedy in the world’s current doom spiral. I can’t wait to play new characters including the glamorous FLOF (First Lady of France) Brigitte Macron.” The three-parter kicks off on Friday at 9.30pm on BBC1.
