£ NOTES

The Junior ISA celebrates its sixth birthday next week. Parents and grandparents saved £858million into JISAs – for under-18s – in the last tax year. Two-thirds opted for cash products but stocks and shares ISAs have become popular too. Coventry Building Society pays 3.25% on its JISA. Nationwide, Halifax and Tesco Bank all pay 3%.

Coventry Building Society has launched a three-year Poppy Fixed ISA and Poppy Bond, both paying 2%.

The rate isn’t earth shattering but you’ll be doing your bit for an excellent cause as 0.15% of the total amount invested is donated to the Royal British Legion.
