A STAR IS VAUGHAN
TIM VAUGHAN saddled his first winner at Cheltenham after 151 attempts as Richard Johnson steered Master Dancer to success in the Brandon Hill Capital Handicap Hurdle.
The 12-1 shot looked to have his work cut out rounding the final bend, but he bounded up the hill to score by an impressive 10 lengths.
Vaughan (above) said: “Knowing my record at Cheltenham it’s a bit of a surprise!
”Everyone winds me up about it and it’s just got to the point where I’ve said to myself ‘I can’t do any more’.
“It’s lovely to have a winner here and it’s nice that Dickie (Johnson) is on board as we’ve been together a long time.
“It’s long overdue, but I’m delighted.”
Of Master Dancer, the trainer added: “That’s his fifth win for us. He’s won on the Flat and he’s won over jumps, so it’s great.”
Johnson said: “Tim’s had a lot of seconds here so it’s fantastic for him to finally win. It’s a special experience to have success at Cheltenham and I’m so pleased Tim has got his reward.”
