Antonio was lazy & inept

-

I WAS beyond angry about what Michail Antonio did at the end of West Ham’s 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace.

With 20 seconds left of the match, you walk the ball into the corner, stick your backside into someone’s lap, and say: “Try to get the ball off me, no you can’t”, then the ref blows his whistle. Game over.

But what he did – crossing the ball before Palace went up the other end and equalised – was probably one of the most naive, inept, lazy, ill-disciplined, stupid, idiotic, passages of play I have seen in many a season.

He and he alone lost his team-mates, team and club two points, which could be the difference between them staying g up or going down this season.

And he should be getting rollickings, banter, embarrassment, memes all week just to remind him that he shouldn’t do it again.

That situation boils down to football intelligence and I knew what to do aged nine, so why is Antonio (above) doing it well into his 20s?

He is either a football illiterate and doesn’t understand the game well enough, or doesn’t care enough about his team trying to win three points away from home.

I hope Mark Noble or Joe Hart have gone up to him in the dressing room and said: “Listen, stand up, don’t do that again. Whoever you play for, wherever you go, you run that ball into the corner, and win us the game.”
