Pacemakers transplanted
PACEMAKERS taken from the bodies of dead people have been successfully transplanted into patients.
Doctors say it gives hope to millions of people who can’t afford a new device.
Pacemakers are fitted on the NHS, but private treatment can cost £4,850.
In other countries, that is unaffordable for many.
Dr Carlos Gutirrez, of Mexico General Hospital, said: “It provides an effective option for patients who cannot afford a new device or battery.”
