Poverty of pity
ASKING locals to rate the importance of the Grenfell Tower scandal exposes the Tories’ callous contempt, and is all too typical of their attitude to working people in one of Britain’s most unequal areas.
Grenfell was the tragic consequence of those in power treating middle earners, lower paid and the poor as a nuisance. This revolting survey proves that the aloof Tories remain horribly insensitive to the loss of so many lives.
On the day the questionnaire emerged, Kensington Labour MP Emma Dent Coad published a report revealing that poor men in the area die 22 years before the wealthy.
The Tory survey comes from politicians who happily tolerate grotesque unfairness.
