Hundreds of Britvic jobs get the chop

- BY KEITH PERRY

BRITVIC is to close its Norwich factory with the loss of hundreds of jobs.

Staff were told last night that other sites will produce its Robinsons and Fruit Shoot drinks.

Some staff could be redeployed to Leeds, East London and Rugby, Warks.

Closure of the plant, which employs 249, is set for 2019. Management say “transferring production will improve efficiency and productivity and reduce environmental impact”.

The move has been mooted for several months amid fears for the future of Colman’s Mustard which has been made at the same factory since 1860.

Britvic co-owns the plant with Colman’s owner Unilever which has previously said it could shut the site if Britvic moved out.
