100k hospital jobs ‘danger’
THE NHS has 100,000 vacancies with hospitals “dangerously understaffed”, research suggests.
Trusts have one in 10 posts unfilled, say the figures obtained under Freedom of Information laws. Labour said that there were 40,000 nurse vacancies, 12,000 for nursing support and 11,000 for scientific, technical and therapeutic staff.
The Royal College of Nursing’s Janet Davies said: “The NHS will enter a perilous January without enough staff to give safe care.” The Department of Health said there were 32,300 more staff since 2010.
