Higher death risk in singles
SINGLE people are more likely to die from heart disease, research shows.
The risk of cardiovascular death or heart attack was found to be 40% higher in those who never married, 41% in divorcees and 71% in the widowed.
The findings came in a study of 6,051 people with coronary artery disease.
Prof Arshed Quyyumi, of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, said: “Benefits of companionship are important for people with heart disease.”
