Jackson’s one of the good guys

-

THERE has been talk these past few days of a Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor rematch – but in the UFC octagon.

It was shot down relatively quickly. Good.

For its novelty, one almighty, £400million con job was bearable.

Another is not. UNDERCOVER reporters who claim Justin Gatlin’s coach Dennis Mitchell said he could supply them with performance enhancing drugs tried to draw Colin Jackson into the ’sting’.

This is what one of Britain’s finest athletes had to say on the subject, believing it was not for public consumption.

“I never used anything like that… I kind of look after some young people… and I would never advise them to do that. I always think hard work and graft is always the way. There are no shortcuts.”

Through the latest stench surrounding Gatlin, it is nice to know there are some good guys still out there. THE vibes suggest Andy Murray will miss the Australian Open because of an ongoing struggle with a persistent hip injury.

He will do everything he can to make it, no doubt, and if it doesn’t prove possible, will redouble his comeback efforts but Murray (left) has a young family and his body is clearly feeling the effects of the unbelievable punishment he has put it through in his remarkable career.

It is highly unlikely but if he decided enough was enough, no one could blame him.
