TASKMASTER FARKE COMES OUT FIGHTING

Norwich v Brentford Championship, kick-off 7.45pm

- BY PETER LAYTON

NORWICH boss Daniel Farke has blasted rumours of a dressing-room bust-up over his brutal training sessions.

Canary players were said to be in revolt about double daily sessions, fearing Christmas burnout and injury. But Farke, whose side play Brentford tonight at Carrow Road, said: “This is simply not true.

“It is normal for footballers to complain but not one single player has said anything to me about this. We have done just one double session all week. So if this is true then maybe we should all just meet up on game day. “Then the rest of the week we can sit at home eating and drinking. “So no, I don’t think I’m too hard on the players or it’s too big a workload.” Farke (above) added: “I’m a big believer in hard work and you earn back what you invest. But you always have to work. “Last season Norwich were the worst team in the last 15 minutes of games, conceding the most goals. Now we are much better. There’s an outstanding professional spirit in our dressing room and I can’t believe there is another one as brilliant in football.

“So there is no truth in these rumours and I won’t be influenced by them.

“And I certainly won’t be changing my training methods!”

Former Spurs midfielder Alex Pritchard (left) said: “Last year we just weren’t fit enough and needed to do more. Now we are.

“You have to be really fit to play football.

“It’s tough here but it’s definitely not as tough as some of the other clubs I have been at.”
