Play-off cup raid is foiled

TWO brothers tried to steal the Championship play-off trophy from a footballer, saying it was scrap.

Chelsea’s Izzy Brown, now on loan at Brighton, had the cup on display in August after starring in Huddersfield’s promotion.

Kirklees JPs were told locals Connor, 21, and Tony Cassidy, 24, “were disturbed” as they raided the Huddersfield home.

They admitted burglary. Connor got a community order while Tony will be sentenced on January 10.
