6,000 break phones law twice in 4yrs
SOME 6,262 drivers have been caught twice in four years breaking the law that bans using a mobile phone at the wheel.
Safety experts warned the number showed some motorists thought they would not get caught and ignored the law.
More than 400 had three endorsements, 20 had four and three had five, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency said.
Just 309 were disqualified for not being in full control of their vehicle.
The RAC said repeat phone offenders felt there was “little chance of seeing a traffic police officer”.
Charity Brake said: “Six thousand in the past four years is truly staggering and makes a mockery of the points system.”
