Safe spot to sober up

-

MANY of the drunk tanks are specially built Alcohol Recovery Centres – like this one in Bristol.

Ten of the 65ft vehicles have been introduced across the country. They can treat 11 people with eight beds, three bucket seats and two showers.

The ARCs cost £5.5million, which came, in part, from a grant from the National Licensed Trade Association.

Staffed by police, paramedics and nurses, they can provide immediate medical attention, as well as a space to drink water and sober up.

Revellers can charge phones and are helped to contact a next of kin.
