Amazon the beat & off to Hollywood
Cop gets time off work to star in Wonder Woman
A DETECTIVE has been given a two-year career break so she can appear in Hollywood movies.
Hari James, 38, was spotted by talent scouts while competing in a crossfit competition. She then landed the role of Amazonian Trigona in Wonder Woman alongside star Gal Gadot. The detective constable has also appeared with Ben Affleck in fantasy film Justice League. She said: “I used to go in to work, deal with whatever came in and that was me done, really. But being a part of a film is completely different. “You’re watching and observing people in a completely different way. “There are long hours and lots of breaks, but you have no responsibilities. You just do as you’re told, really.” The 5ft 10in DC, who has 14 years’ experience fighting crime, caught the eye of movie bosses while taking part in the British Crossfit Championships in London, in 2014. Hari, of Penarth, near Cardiff, said: “I’d never done any acting, so it wasn’t something I had gone looking for. “I’d only got the part because I had a certain look. I kept saying to the casting team, ‘you know I’m not an actress?’ and they were like, ‘that’s fine’. We did all get together about six weeks before filming to train as a team.” Hari will return to South Wales Police in May.
