GUESTS at a wedding reception were stunned when the pregnant bride went into labour – on the dance floor.

Dannie Mountford, 19, was enjoying the first dance with groom Carl, 18, when her waters broke. The pair left family and friends to enjoy the party while they rushed to hospital in a taxi.

Their daughter Jasmine was born in the early hours of the next morning, weighing 6lbs 4oz. Dannie said: “One second I was dancing with my new husband, and the next I was giving birth to my little girl.

“It was such a big surprise, but it’s made our wedding day even more memorable and will always be extra special.”

Dannie, of Rowley Regis, West Mids, added: “As I was dancing, I felt something coming trickling down my leg.

“It wasn’t until I was in the labour ward that my wedding dress was taken off. It was soaking because of my waters bursting on it. The DJ was still playing as I was leaving and people were still finishing their drinks. We hadn’t even cut the cake yet.

“Jasmine is doing really well and was definitely the perfect wedding gift.”

Jasmine is now home with her delighted parents.
